Guest: Nino Amato, President/CEO, CWAG (Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups)
CWAG – The Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups – is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. As a nonprofit, nonpartisan, statewide membership organization, CWAG was founded in 1977 when people concerned about the needs of a growing aging population got together to have their voices heard on matters important to them. A 40th anniversary celebration will be held Saturday evening, May 20, at the Radisson Hotel Madison.
On this program, Nino Amato describes how, over its 40-year history, CWAG has successfully advocated for such programs as better nutrition for the elderly, the formation of senior centers, the Homestead tax benefit, and SeniorCare, the low-cost prescription drug program unique to Wisconsin. CWAG’s 2017 summer agenda includes informational meetings around Wisconsin on the new risks for identity theft and other current challenges facing the senior population.
Membership in CWAG is open to anyone – individuals and families. For membership information, issue and program updates, or to register to attend the 40th anniversary celebration Saturday, May 20, go to cwag.org.
